news :: about :: portfolio contact Jo-Anne McArthur’s photography is greatly influenced by her life experiences. Her curiosity has taken her to over thirty countries and most recently, through India and South East Asia, providing a wider angle of perspective on the human condition. Locally, working with teenaged mothers and documenting contemporary midwifery, she has learned the value of listening. She observes the people and animals around her and records their stories on film.
Her photography, then, is just as she is: empathetic, engaging, and passionate.
Jo-Anne has been working as a photographer since 1998 and completed an internship with Magnum Photos in London, England, in 2000. She has been a guest speaker at Harbourfront Photo Passage, the University of Ottawa Arts Department, the University of Toronto and the Richmond Hill Camera Club. Her present home base is Toronto, Canada.
