"We Animals" is a project that documents animals in the human environment.
The title is intentionally broad in subject matter, interpretation and
implication. Humans are as much animal as the sentient beings we use for
food, clothing, experimentation, work, entertainment, slavery and
companionship.

Though as with all projects one begins close to home -
photographing pets, zoos, meat markets - there is much more to be
documented. The "human environment," after all, now reaches the depths of
the Amazonian rainforest and the ocean floor. We humans claim these spaces,
and the creatures that inhabit them, as our own. Images from this
documentary have been used in print and various exhibits since 1998 and have
helped raise funds for The Jane Goodall Institute, Farm Sanctuary, the Animal India Trust and Canadian Coalition for
Farm Animals.
